    Our day started with a Zoom party to celebrate the upcoming birth of Inge and Eon's baby girl.

     

  Kia designed a lovely card and helped me to get a bit if nostalgia together to present to the new parents.

    Eon and Inge celebrated in Wellington NZ today.

   So many people in important government positions, health workers and teaching staff are dying of Covid.

    My Middelburg family have all tested positive. My friend Hendrik is fighting for his life in St. George's Hospital. 

    To balance the negative, I find joy in the antics of my grandchildren...

   

Day 295 of Lockdown

    ESKOM has announced loadshedding, some parts of PE have no water and the schoolyear is to start Mid-February.

   Fortunately Ilan's playschool is not affected. I received a first day "certificate"!

Unlocking the front door has it's own negatuve "surprises" these days.

   I have become used to excrement in front of the garage but the drug addicts are now coming onto the stoep to do their business here. Last week the lock on Kia's motorbike box was broken.

But in the big scheme of things, this is a small bump.

     Shocking news received today that my friend of 46 years is critically ill in St George's Hosp.

   Hendrik Kritzinger and several members of his family have been infected with the virus.

    Hospitals are overflowing. Patients are treated in parking lots etc...

Meanwhile senseless acts are committed to keep people away from beaches and out of the ocean

On the positive side, we received news from NZ

Kapiti Island... 

  Eon and Inge sent pictures of their vacation. 

And innovation knows no end...

Day 284 and SA is in a Covid spin

Monday, January 5

    Yesterday the Health Minister held a Press Conference explaining the vaccine roll-out... But with no procurement in place yet!

    The media reported this morning that 40 million South Africans will be vaccinated before the end of 2021.

     Wondering what tomorrow's newspapers will report... 

    In the meantime the next to inserts are quite scary...
