New on Havelock Square

I am so aware of the decline of PE-Central as a suburb seeing that I cannot get my flat sold at a realistic price. But during the last few month I could pick out little spots of growth and to my surprise I stumbled upon something special happening in Havelock Square.
Previously known as Millbrook Guest House, the lovely Victorian double-storey building has been given a new lease of life as a creative hub where artists and small entrepreneurs can operate from.
Freshly renovated an ready for business ...

Med flavour on our Hill

Veronica invited me to one of the newest additions to the restaurant scene in Richmond Hill.
We had very tasty tapas at 2 Olives in Stanley Street and to celebrate my 66th birthday, I could order a special treat of a platter filled with dessert goodies.
Anita Coetzer was impressed with the risotto balls!

Veronica was thrilled with her Portuguese fish cakes

Birthday treat to end a delicious meal

Birthday braai for young friends

Eon treated me to a braai in the garden and we invited a few of my young friends.
One of them, Joubert Loots, a photography student, took a few pics whilst Eon and Hein attended to the fire. Here are the visual results of a lovely evening under the stars ...

Meet the rag pickers!

I was the mother of all charity sales that I ever attended in Port Elizabeth ...    The ACVV in Forest Hill had a sale of the donations they received during this year.
Volunteers worked for a day to make "heaps" of the clothes, linen, shoes, toys, books etc to make it easy for the customers / buyers to identify where they wanted to "start their shopping spree".
All items were priced at R5!  Within two hours after they opened shop in their hall, the heaps were integrated and people were sitting on the floor picking through the merchandise!
