Adventurer arrives home

This is what Eon looked like after a two-day
stay at Huisklip (camping without a tent).
Getting ready for the adventure.
As it was a hiking-inclusive adventure, I dropped
Eon and his friend Jacques 5 km from our house.

Girlie wears Verandah fashion

My Campbell Street friend, Gideon van der Merwe of Campbel & Company, sent an urgent message crying for help.
Girlie was delivered to his door naked.  She needed to be covered up as her "nipples were tanning too much."  I packed a bag without knowing much about this woman's anatomy.  Alas, Girlie had no arms, so I had to rush back to fetch a little fur cape. Ruth, who is in charge of Gideon's shop helped to carry her inside the shop and we made her comfortable on an attractive couch and added the cocktail hat and pink shoes etc.

This was the end result - Girlie Verandah style!
However, when I went back to visit her this afternoon, the couch was sold and Girlie now sits on the floor. I trust this will only be temporary.

Breakfast in Richmond Hill

Colleague Shena Lamb is a wordsmith and vegetarian chef. To sit at her table is an experience to savour for a very long time.

Husband Frank is a "fixer" and constant gardener. That's why it was hard to leave their charming cottage after an unforgettable breakfast yesterday. I was in awe of their beautiful pink "moon flower". I have a gigantic white one in my garden and it is known for shedding flowers at a speed. But in the Irvine St garden there was not a trace of fallen flowers - the elves must have been at it all night...

The feast on the patio consisted of pears in red wine and ginger, cereal with a twist, joghurt with nuts, fruit crunch, stewed nectarines with berries and peaches in (I think) rooibos and pine nuts. Home made mozarella, green figs, honey and croissants and a supply of plunger coffee made up the rest of the menu

Shena presented us each with a little gift ... a decorated matchbox. Jacky's had a special message ...
