70 years, 12 months...

10 December 2017...  My birthday lunch with Kia and friend Lee at Remo's in Alabaster Street...      This restaurant gives you a little taste of Italy in the friendly city...

The Scooter adds to the Italian vibe
Although a non-drinker, the authentic bar counter transported me to the recently visited Torino, home of slow food.

What does this sign indicate?   If you are younger than 25 perhaps, you would not recognise the Caltex Resroom sign of old.

Library friends at my table

A menu made up of each guest's favourite offering is an annual treat for a few of my colleagues that became friends (during my tenure at the South Campus library between 2008 and 2011)
Rosemary brought a quiche (still in the oven) from Continental Butchery and I laid the table and provided the drinks and the antipasta (salad)
Elise prepared a chilled cucumber mould (still in fridge) and surprised us with a ciabata
Quiche on the table now!
Judy's delectable cheese board... and Sharon's koeksisters (not in picture) together with my German coffee concluded this year's lunch.

All tastes are catered for...

Music Festival in Richmond Hill

As has been the tradition since the beginning of this decade, visitors from all corners of the city came to our suburb to share in festivities on 10 June.
I had the opportunity take some of my outfits for walk abouts!

Ex-student shows creative side

In the Nineties, Louise Liebenberg was in my Media Studies class. She went on to become a PRO but soon joined the journo fraternity. At one stage we were colleagues at the PE Express (I was there in a part-time capacity as sub-editor). These days she is in a hot seat at The Herald and Weekend Post.

Married to Salvelio, a Videographer, they live in Essexvale. Recently a neglected area in their house was transformed into their own 'cafe' where they entertain invited guests.

It was my turn yesterday (Sunday, 11 June) to experience the wow !

Cats figure big in their lives...
Their house cafe is even named after cats Mila and Lorca = Milorca
South American cushion covers....
A retro coffee service...
And irresistable Madeleines freshly baked by Louise...

The day my eyes popped out

Wow ...
I went to BOERESJIEK in Brackenfell on 16 May.
They stock masses of antiques as well as trendy decor. Amidst the profusion, there are numerous tables where customers can enjoy tea and cake.  All are set beautifully.
I had a visual overload. Will defenitily go back when I am the Cape Town vicinity again.

Going hatty ...with my friend Estelle Jooste...
