Have clothes, will travel ...

Leaving for Europe on Thursday and taking mostly clothes gleaned at Charity stores.
There will be two kaftans in my suitcase. Total cost: R15.
Beautiful cloth. A few tiny holes, but the pattern camouflages them.
Bought at ACVV rummage sale.Lifted the hemline and washed it in
Woolite. Vienna, here we come ..
Except from two charity blouses and some Hospice panties (new Woolworths, nogal).
my real Barrington jeans will be going with.  And they were bought new!
Fairweather was a top label in the 70's. This lighter kaftan
was found at the Methodist shop.  Great for sleeping and picnicking,
I think.

Flags of importance

Eon, my surfer son, needs to know which way the wind blows,,, and for years now he depended on a flag on the Verandah's back roof to give him the good or bad news.
It all started when he affixed an empty orange pocket. But that was years ago. After the World Cup Soccer, a S A  flag went up. When it disintegrated earlier this year, I gave him my French flag. Now it is proudly gracing our back garden. And also reminds me of my  huguenot   roots.
Ten days ago, I added some tongue-in-the-cheek flags to the Verandah's facade... This is to remind us how fortunate we are to be able to travel to Europe. This morning Kia posed under the flags showing her pasport (with Hungarian visa).

Photo shoot under the verandah

My friend Bongiwe asked whether they could do a few pics in my lounge after tying the knot at the Trinity Baptist Church. As I was "Aunt of Honour", how could I refuse such a request...

The bridal party arrived at my house and were absolutely at home.

Vintage vibe in Western Cape

I recently visited my friend Hermien Coetzee's floral haven in Stellenbosch. It was during the annual Woordfees and what a surprise I got on my way to Flowers in the Foyer...
Hermien has let the litttle "square" adjoining her shop to vintage dealers for the duration of the festival. I went back time and again and felt so at home.   Mixing literature, flower power and an era of nostalgia was magic...
