One hundred days of Lockdown

Saturday, July 4...
The health situation in the Eastern Cape has become super chaotic.  According to the National minister of Health more doctors, nurses and clinical assistants will arrive in the NM Bay Metro tomorrow.
National Covid deaths now count nearly 3 000.

Academics and medical experts also paint a bleak picture and the media is reporting the negativity non-stop.
Although I am affected by the news, trying to be a spectator and reach out to the desolate and desperate people passing my house is what I can do.
Memories also keep me busy and something small can trigger a string of happenings in the past. Like this headline in yesterday's newspaper...
It took me back to the middle 70's when I was a part-time waitress there.  The restaurant was called Polly's Fare Deal.   The floor was covered in sawdust and staff had to wear cowboy gear.
I still have the denim pinnafore I used to wear on my shifts.  Unfortunately the check shirts aren't around anymore!
It is in this establishment where I inflicted a permanent dimple on my cheeck.  I had an accident with a specially imported Italian coffee apparatus. Too much steam in the pipes csused the pressure to release a lever and I happened to be close to the balking  steel and chrome animal.
I remember vaguely being dragged to the pub where I was given whisky for shock and pain.
All great times and places see their end. I am happy to have special memories of meeting / serving many theatre people as the Opera House is located on the corner of the street.

In Jhb the kids are still positive and receiving pictures from the grandies are always exciting!

Yarl has grown so much since I saw her at the beginning of March.
Ilan is into insects among many other subjects.  Jana says he is learning the alphabet fast.
Here is her FB post of yesterday :
